My husband and I, along with our two young boys, often eat out at the end of a busy week. We all enjoy Greek food, so we decided to visit Mama Soulas since we had not been there for a long time.
My husband ordered souvlaki with a side greek salad, while I ordered the Moussaka -"A luxurious Greek casserole that always gets rave reviews" according to the menu.
Everything was fine until the food arrived. My husband received a full-sized salad, and when he noted that he had only ordered a side salad, the waiter said "oh - I thought you said regular", paused awkwardly, and left the table (and the salad), never to bring up the subject again. My mousakka was a luke-warm (at best) dish that had obviously been frozen and defrosted in the microwave - the potatoes had that watery, mushy texture that only comes from the freezer. I ate the warmer bits around the edges and tended to my children - there was obviously no point in complaining to the teenage waiter. He neither came back to ask if everything was ok, nor noticed that I had barely eaten the "you can get better in the freezer of your local grocery store" mousakka.
Our bill arrived and we noticed that we had been billed for the regular sized salad and we had to tell the waiter to please correct this. Instead of saying - I'm sorry, or even that there would be no charge for the salad, he just mumbled "oh - ok" and had it changed to the lower amount.
We will never be back.
What a Bad experience! Too Much Noise, the tables are full of dirt, and the food is everything but Greek.
I would NOT recommend this place to any one.

The night I dined there I had the lamb chops and lemon potatoes which were incredibly good, while my boyfriend had the grilled octopus and moussaka, equally good. I remember telling him at the time we must come back, the meal was so satisfying and tasted very fresh, unlike the experience of the two comments I just read. I had only eaten there once before, when it first opened, and I also remember having an excellent meal as well. That time we tried the starter platter with dolmadakia and various other Greek appetizers which was very good and I had the baked lamb dish which was nothing short of incredible.
I hope the other comments don't indicate a trend but a bad night. I can't reconcile them with the two experiences I had.
We often visit Mama Soulas and always receive good service and good quality meals. We love the ambience and management involvement. Nothing wrong with this restaurant, in fact we can highly recommend a visit to Mama Soulas.
If you are going for dinner, get there early or prepare to wait in line, even on weekdays during the summer this place is busy because the food is great and you get generous portions. My favourite visit is to go with 2 or 3 friends, we each order a couple of items and then share. My Greek fix gets fixed at Mama Soulas.
